With her jazz project “Ruby,” Ingrid Weetjens attracted attention (including at Jazzzolder Mechelen) with in her band the widely acclaimed trumpeter Jean-Paul Estiévenart and double bassist Lara Rosseel.
Now she signs with Juno as an engaged singer-songwriter her music with producers Joes Brands and Jan Borré with whom she works closely.
Ingrid Weetjens: “We especially took a lot of time to think about the sound. I wanted it to sound authentic, so I thought it was important to record a lot of pure, acoustic sounds such as the voices and the piano. I also wanted to create a dreamy sound by finding the right electronic keys. That is the core, the essence around which everything would be built. So that a beautiful, new sound was created.
Her music is a fusion of indie - and emopop mixed with jazzy sounds. It sounds layered and dreamy and a bit naive with her delicate voice and clear phrasing.
Live, it promises to be an experience with more room for solos and improvisation. 'Juno' invites you on a musical expedition of contemplation and inspired listening.
