Stijn Demuynck - Artist in Residence

Each season, Rataplan gives space to innovative and emerging artists to develop and present their own work. They work for five days on a new musical project or an artistic deepening with musical guests.

In May, we welcome Stijn Demuynck.

Stijn Demuynck is a multi-instrumentalist and sound artist. Always looking for the boundary between sound and music.

With drums as his main instrument, he also uses his voice, guitar, software, electronics,... to make music.

As artist in residence, Stijn Demuynck wants to connect two very different solo projects together with drummer & sound engineer Stijn Cools.

Demuynck's EP Werk includes songs constructed as a pop song through guitar and vocals.

He wants to connect those to his project Crawl into a snare drum. In which he uses software and hardware applications to build a new instrument with a snare drum, electronics and four speakers.

In Rataplan, Demuynck explores how the two projects can work together and provide an interesting live experience for the audience.
