With his debut album Hypnagogie, Belgian multi-instrumentalist Grégoire Gerstmans delivers an intimate and sensory neo-classical work, at the crossroads of dreaming and heightened awareness. A former drummer turned sound and visual explorer, he trades percussion for a lovingly restored vintage piano, recording live in one take, without edits, in an attic filled with silence and creaking floorboards. Blending emotional purity, minimalist aesthetics, and his rich musical heritage, his nine compositions reflect an inner world, echoing the spirit of Arvo Pärt, Joep Beving, and Nils Frahm. Complemented by his own photography, this project becomes a hymn to intimacy, where the subtle becomes essential.
