Withdrawal from everyday life and proximity to nature again played an essential role in the creation of his second album ‘ELEMENTS’. But the time has come to transport this new album and its nine jazz compositions from solitude to the present.
The musical formation, from trio to quartet, is inspired by his previous album ‘RACINES’. Chavet once again found the right musicians in Belgium.
The man at the piano is Igor Gehenot, a Belgian jazz figure well known in the Brussels scene. Sam Gerstmans is the bass player on duty and forms a sturdy rhythm section with Olivier. The quartet is completed by trumpeter Carlo Nardozza who replaces Heidi Bayer who collaborated on the preparation of the album. The recording studio ‘Fattoria Musica’ on the outskirts of Osnabrück, as with ‘RACINES’, provided the best conditions for recording ‘ELEMENTS’, under the direction of Amsterdam-based sound engineer Chris Weeda.
