Fuz4tet

Fuz4tet

On a crisp winter morning in 2020, Yuliia Vydovska hums a tune in front of the coffee machine at the Strasbourg Conservatory. It’s an old traditional Ukrainian song she used to sing as a child in her hometown of Cherkasy, Ukraine. She has no idea that this simple moment will lay the foundation for the Fuz4tet project.
Beside her, her three friends—Maxime Epp, Nello Dronne, and Lucas Habe—listen attentively. That same evening, the four of them decide to revisit this melody and wrap it in a jazz atmosphere.

The magic of Fuz4tet lies in its ability to create resolutely modern music inspired by traditional Ukrainian influences. This unique and delicate blend captivates both jazz lovers and younger audiences seeking fresh sounds.

Their music is sensitive and alive—sometimes soft and delicate, sometimes unpredictable—guided by Yuliia Vydovska’s beautiful Slavic voice, Lucas Habe’s double bass, Maxime Epp’s drums, and Nello Dronne’s piano. Like a brushstroke on a blank canvas, they explore and experiment with their sonic material, blending solid and ethereal textures, foundations and embellishments, body and soul. Improvisation is at the heart of their musical journey, an essential process through which they continuously create and recreate ever-evolving atmospheres and soundscapes.
