Bauke Meersman (huiskamerconcert)

Bauke Meersman is a Belgian jazz musician known for his innovative minimalist music. He specialises in meditative suites using circular breathing techniques on the saxophone and bass clarinet, sometimes playing both instruments simultaneously. His music is characterised by irregular time signatures and structure through repetition, creating an engaging and evocative experience for listeners.

Meersman's work has been described as “industrial jazz”, with his compositions often taking listeners back to the atmosphere of bars and taverns of industrial workers. His performances focus on creating a spatial sound that stimulates the personal imagination, showcasing his compositional skills and the human element in his music.

He has released music through Den Hoed Music Records, and his projects include solo performances as well as collaborations with other musicians in groups such as Den Hoed Duo and in collaboration with musicians such as Ann Vancoillie and Emiliano Della Giovanna.

Bauke has performed on many stages and festivals, including at Dunk! Festival at Kunstencentrum 404, Theater Aan Zee and Hot Club Gent.
