Eric Legnini et son trio

Eric Legnini et son trio

Stefano Di Battista's quintet, in the mid-90s...
Constantly punctuating the alto saxophonist's voluble, fiery discourse is a young pianist as discreet as he is talented: Eric Legnini. It doesn't take long for Legnini to establish himself as the indispensable regulator of the Di Battista orchestra's moods. An ideal springboard.
Often associated with drummer André Ceccarell, he became one of the most sought-after sidemen, accompanying Serge Reggiani, Philip Catherine, Didier Lockwood, Henri Salvador, John McLaughlin, Manu Katché, Pino Palladino, Milton Nascimento...
At the age of 35, Legnini finally decided to step out of the shadows and, with “Miss Soul”, signed his first album as a leader on a French label. His success continues to grow: Sing Twice! (2013) was even nominated for a Victoire du Jazz award that same year. He plays in all-star groups such as the quartet with Manu Katché, Richard Bona and Stefano di Battista. In 2015, he recorded the album “Red & Black Light” with Ibrahim Maalouf, which took him to sold-out concerts all over France and Europe.
But where does this jazzman with such an impressive career come from?
Eric Legnini was born in Huy on February 20, 1970, into a family of Italian émigrés, his father an amateur guitarist and his mother a singer and teacher at the local Conservatory. His training took him through Bach and Puccini.
His passion for Keith Jarrett gives you a pretty good idea of what you'll hear on the evening of February 7th....
