Macondo began as a chance meeting between Sylvain Debaisieux, a Belgian saxophonist, and Angelo Moustapha, a Beninese drummer.

This duo then became a trio with the arrival of bassist Federico Stocchi. Inspired by African hymns and trips to Europe, the music delivers an energetic sound dominated by flow and groove.
