Rutger Mathys feat. Elias D’hooge Trio - concert at Jazz In Het Park

Rutger Mathys is a musician who is at home in many markets. He has several bands with which he experiments with Brazilian music, Latin, Fusion, you name it, in addition to jazz. His music has resonated on major stages, from performing for the Belgian royal family to Berlin and gracing the Brussels and North Sea Jazz Festival in 2023.

He comes to Rootstown with his good friend Elias D'hooge, whose trio is a top performer as an emerging talent in the Belgian jazz scene. They won the B-Jazz contest in 2023, after which many performances and the recording of their first album followed. Together with Rutger, they perform a jazz repertoire with a straight-ahead approach.

Rutger and Elias' musical paths often cross. For example, they play together in the fusion collective "Shikata Ga Nai" and they have a YouTube project "Stereo Stuff" with which they bring instant compositions to their audience with a lot of humor. They are happy that they can return to their roots with this concert.
