John Coltrane's music has always inspired musicians with its spiritual depth. The many layers of Coltrane's music can lead to a multitude of personal interpretations.
The "Compassion" project by duo Peter Hertmans / Erwin Vann focuses on the depth and simplicity of pure sound. Guitar and saxophone coincide in a complementary space, hoping to take you to the essence of this eternal music. Coltrane's compositions are the starting point for a deeply personal inner exploration.
Guitarist Peter Hertmans and saxophonist Erwin Vann have been established figures on the Belgian and international jazz scene since the 1980s. Leaders of their own projects, they have been playing together for many years in various formations, including a quartet with Billy Hart and Nicolas Thys (CD "Stone Sculpture" 2006).
