Django Jazz - Quartet 508

Django Jazz - Quartet 508

It was in 2019 that the story of this Brussels gypsy jazz quartet began.

The aesthetic of Quartet 508 is intended to be light and energetic. The choice of pieces as well as the way of arranging them give a certain identity to this brand new Belgian gypsy jazz formation. The repertoire is influenced by the entire career of Django Reinhardt and by the musicians who associate with him such as Hubert Rostaing, Gus Viseur and of course Stéphane Grappelli.

A few compositions are regularly added to the group's repertoire, as if to better dialogue with the past. The essential thing for the Quartet 508 is to explore this particular aesthetic of European acoustic jazz which emerged in 1934 with the Quintette du Hot Club de France and to continue to play on this same old continent a jazz which could not have been see the light of day in other places or in other hands than those of Django Reinhardt and his acolytes.
