ORLANDO : Betterlands – Album Release

The Franco-Belgian quartet ORLANDO of saxophonist Toine Thys releases a new album ‘Betterlands’.
He is accompanied by Maxime Sanchez on piano, Florent Nisse on double bass and Teun Verbruggen on drums.

Nine new tracks which complement the 10 from the previous album, which won them the Octave de la Musique in 2021.
Orlando is here in a new version with a new drummer and music even more focused on ensemble playing. Rather than cascades of notes and fireworks, we explore sound and space here. Some titles are serious and solemn, while others are full of joy and hope. Toine Thys also uses electronics to sample his saxophone, superimpose it and process it on several tracks, a way of opening the music to larger spaces.
