CASIMIR LIBERSKI ReTRio / Jazz Tour – Les Lundis d’Hortense

Born in Brussels 33 years ago, Casimir Liberski is a composer-improviser pianist who made his mark in NY. After completing his studies in Boston, at the Berklee College of Music, he resided there for several years. In 2018, he decided to return to settle in Belgium. Insatiable jack-of-all-trades, bulimic heir to his "gods" Monk, Coltrane, Miles Davis, and so many other divinities from the gigantic repertoire of baroque, classical, modern, jazz, and contemporary music, Casimir is also an obsessive hacker of vintage analog synthesizers. “One lifetime will not be enough to quench my thirst for music,” he says (smiling).

The Zelda Suite Project: The idea at the origin of this project consists in taking themes from historical video games (retro!) and putting them in a jazzy or even "free jazz" way, according to the " harmolodic” by Ornette Coleman. Fascinated by the inventiveness of these electronic refrains which remain in the head without ever being tiresome, Casimir today takes his ReTRio into an atypical live acoustic jazz, in permanent evolution, reinterpreting themes of video games which are braided with improvisations to give way to a very singular jazz flow, with varied registers and, ultimately, very contemporary.
