Lennart Heyndels is active in a broad playing field, from jazz and improvisation (Ben Sluijs Quartet, Kaja Draksler Octet) to playful pop (Hi Hawaii) and solo experiments with modular synths. His latest project 'Codex Au Soleil' delves into the late-medieval 'Ars subtilior', where pure melodies are joined by rhythmic crackling.

With Ars subtilior, experimentation was central. Whereas the melodies sounded very pure and without unnecessary ornamentation, the 'wildness' was in the approach to rhythm. This excellent quartet puts all those elements together and builds a fascinating new tower.

Support: MUDA meets Benjamin Dousselaere

Musical jack-of-all-trades Benjamin Dousselaere will interact with the improvisation class of the MUDA arts secondary school for music and dance, led by Thomas Smetryns.

For a week, Benjamin will improvise with this 17-piece ensemble and work out material that both he and the students have contributed. What will be played on stage we do not yet know, that it will be a unique concert is certain.
