Expo «La place des femmes dans le jazz»

The place of women in jazz through record covers is far from being a matter of aesthetics. The Maison du Jazz de Liège has set up this exhibition with the idea of ​​highlighting these many musicians and singers who have contributed to the history of jazz with a capital H. A contribution to underline, because the recognition granted was often meager. And it was difficult to integrate an essentially male musical environment, although jazz is a music of freedom, emancipation and openness.

With more than 200 covers accompanied by a soundtrack, this exhibition revolves around several major themes: one devoted to the great ladies of the blues, another to the great ladies of jazz of course and then others devoted to female singers. , musicians, activists, women of jazz made in Belgium and many others that you will have the opportunity to discover during your visit.
