The Senghor welcomes the Viper's Rhythm Band, a jazz group that plays swing as it was done in the 1920s and 1930s, accompanied on stage by a couple of dancers to address a pivotal period in history, and a style of jazz more likely, by its popular aesthetics, to reach an uninformed public.
Aaaah, the Roaring Twenties! Its hot evenings to drink in a hurry, its big parties worthy of Gatsby the Magnificent, its mythical Cotton Club, its jazz stars (Armstrong, Ellington, Count Basie,...). How would you like to go back there for an exciting concert, with swing, lindy hop and charleston? You'd think you were there!
Three one-hour workshops, each dealing with a different facet of jazz, will be given throughout the day to allow children and adults to learn more about this musical genre.
