Belgian pianist and composer Bram De Looze (°1991, Knokke-Heist) founds his way to jazz and improvisational music throughout his teens. In 2007 he started to work with a band called LABtrio. Consisting of Lander Gyselinck on drums and Anneleen Boehme on bass, this trio won the Belfius Axion Classics (2008) and Brussels Jazz Marathon (2009) competitions. In 2011 LABtrio won two main prizes on the European Tremplin Jazz d'Avignon festival. In summer/autumn 2013 the first LABtrio album will come out, full of own compositional work. Bram De Looze performed with Bert Joris, Dre Pallemaerts, Robin Verheyen, Nicolas Thys, Frank Vaganee, Brussels Jazz Orchestra with Maria Joao & David Linx, and a collaboration with bassist Greg Cohen for the Jazz Middelheim Festival. Bram was also part of the first Youth Jazz Orchestra, a three years project, working with arrangers and composers like Bob Mintzer, Pierre Bertrand, Florian Ross. Bram De Looze's main teachers were Werner Meert and Hans Van Oost (music academy of Knokke 2003-2009), Ron Van Rossum (Lemmensinstitute 2009-2011). Today Bram De Looze resides in New York, writing music for a new band coming up soon and also working his way through the New School with teachers like Marc Copland, Jacob Sacks, Charles Tolliver, Reggie Workman, Joanne Brackeen.
