From Kind of Blue to Electric Miles - Miles Davis' 100th birthday in 2026

In 2026, jazz will celebrate the centenary of the birth of Miles Davis, a major and elusive figure who, throughout his life, constantly pushed the boundaries of sound.

This project pays tribute to his perpetual quest for novelty: a musical journey that begins in the hushed mists of Kind of Blue (1959), a masterpiece of modal jazz, and ventures into the electric and groovy bursts of the 1980s.

On stage, Guillaume Vierset (guitar), Fil Caporali (bass, Brazil), Bilou Doneux (drums), Pierre Malempré (trumpet), Thomas Champagne (alto sax), and Michel Mainil (tenor sax) revisit these different eras with the same goal: to bring Miles' spirit to life rather than freeze it in time.

Between lyricism and energy, acoustic and electric, the sextet weaves a dialogue between eras - a celebration of movement, freedom, and sound.

On the menu are some of the essentials from Kind of Blue, his collaborations with Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter, and his later, more electric period, notably Tutu, Amandla, Jean-Pierre, Human Nature, etc. Not to mention the legendary “Ascenseur pour l'échafaud.”
