Barbara Wiernik / Jozef Dumoulin Band

The group offers a choice which is varied and coherent at the same time. Featuring often little known compositions of composers of different horizons, such as Daniel Goyone, Noa, Joni Mitchell, Kenny Wheeler, Marisa Monte or Diederik Wissels. The diversity of musical styles and languages contribute toward bestowing on each piece its special character.
Arrangements are done collectively by the group which soon will also present its own original compositions. The quintet, with a very acoustic sound based on the unison of a sophisticated rhythmic and pure methodical lines. The result is an enveloping harmony, based on simultaneous and balanced research and nuance. The rich sonority, contributed by each member of the group, is yet enriched by saxophone player Hans Helewaut. In the same state of mind, the vocal part is utilised as a fully integrated instrument, serving for the interpretation of songs or wordless pieces. Few duos (vocal/piano or vocal/percussion) add extra different atmosphere.
