Interfak Big Band

Interfak Big Band

The Interfak Big Band grew out of an occasional ensemble that accompagnied the revue show of the engineering students in 1984. Since 1986, the Interfak Big Band recrutes musicians from all faculties of the University of Leuven, Belgium. Hence the name Interfac(ultary) Big Band. The Interfak Big Bands regularly embarks on an international concert trip. The band has played on several international events throughout Europe, the USA, Rio De Janeiro and Singapore.

The Interfak Big Band plays a varied repertoire that ranges from classical big band music (Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Woody Herman, Glenn Miller ...) over Jazz Standards (Miles Davis, Dizzie Gillespie, Charlie Parker, Horace Silver ...) up to contemporary music (Randy Brecker, Henry Mancini, Jaco Pastorius, Tower of Power, Josef Zawinul, Bob Mintzer, Pat Metheny, ...) The IBB also plays compositions by its own members, e.g. Bob Grietens, Karel Goddaer, Nele Ghijs, ...
