Victor Da Costa Trio

The Victor DA COSTA Trio presents a repertoire made of original compositions as well as pieces by Brazilian composers such as Chico Buarque, Tom Jobim, Carlos Lyra, etc.

The trio was born from the idea to associate the Brazilian lyricism and rhythms with a modern approach of improvisation, using the acoustic sounds and the clarity and transparence of the band's sound.

Victor DA COSTA's compositions vary in style. Simple or complex harmonies, rhythms inspired by his home country or straight ahead swing contribute to create the group sound and serve as a springboard for improvisation.

Bart DE NOLF on bass and Jan DE HAAS on drums, who form the rhythm section, are well known on the Belgian scene. They have a background in latin music which makes them ideal partners for this project.
