Led by Pierre Cocq-Amann, the trio focuses on an original project: to revive an instrument abandoned since the 1930s: the C Melody Sax - a non-transposing saxophone with a range between alto and tenor. An almost untameable and little-known instrument that has rarely been so well explored as in this trio.
Far from being an academic exercise for music lovers, this trio from Lorraine offers a modern, rich and powerfully evocative musical experience. Highlighted by a creative piano and inspired percussion, the C-Melody showcases an original repertoire (entirely composed by the saxophonist), energetic and melodious, with occasional nods to Kenny Garrett and E.S.T.
Winner of the Nancy Jazz Up! 2021, Back To C delivers a performance that stimulates the imagination and the body, so unique are the sensations produced by the compositions. Both vintage and electronic sounds intermingle with ease, and the surprising colours of the band bear witness to its diverse heritage: jazz, world music and classical music.
