Duo Schmidt/Salemi

 Martin Salemi and Boris Schmidt met during impromptu concerts and jam sessions in Brussels a few years ago.

Since then, they have collaborated on several projects blending jazz and world music. At the launch concert for ‘Now’, his latest album as a bandleader, Boris Schmidt invited Martin Salemi to join his band on stage for a few tracks. Martin Salemi then invited Boris Schmidt to join his new trio, alongside Daniel Jonkers on drums, and they recorded Martin’s latest album, ‘About Time’, released on IGLOO Records in October 2021, followed by a national tour.

Their rapport, as well as their shared love for the jazz, folk and world music repertoire, led them to perform as a duo and thus refine their musical chemistry. In concert, they present a selection of tracks, ranging from original compositions to covers of well-known and lesser-known jazz, folk and world music standards.
