Stéphane Galland & (the mystery of) Kem

Stéphane Galland & (the mystery of) Kem

In ancient Egypt, Kem refers to the colour black, which symbolises darkness and fertility. Stéphane Galland surrounds himself with young, talented and adventurous Belgian musicians. He's also supported by the South-Indian Ravi Kulur (plays with Ravi Shankar, Anoushka Shankar) one of the most prominent contemporary Carnatic flutists.Together they explore new rhythmic angles.

Stéphane Galland focuses on the encounter between cultures and the enrichment of musical and rhythmic language in his collaborations with Ibrahim Maalouf, Aka Moon and Lobi. With (the Mystery of) KEM, the drummer explores the roots of the rhythm at the crossroads of all musical traditions he got to know and integrated them in his own musical language.
