YUSUF is the celebration of the spring equinox, symbolising the renewal of nature, the moment when light is victorious over darkness, when the days are the same length as the nights and will continue to grow longer. It also means welcome, hospitality and sharing. In the Mediterranean, the stranger is sacred; no questions are asked, such as ‘who are you’, ‘where are you from’ or ‘where are you going’.
