Blue Mockingbirds
In February 2019, six young musicians from Brussels are flying to New Orleans. Fascinated by the jazz of the ‘20s, they found themselves sharing the streets and the stage with local musicians. This shared passion soon crystallised around the voice of a rare bird, the British singer and multi-instrumentalist Leonie Evans: The Blue Mockingbirds were born. The Blue Mockingbirds take their name from America's jazziest bird, a bird with the ability to imitate other birdsong. But the group doesn't limit itself to simple covers of songs from the ‘20s. They compose and rearrange century-old gems with taste and in the New Orleans style they love so much.
