Jim Monneau

Jim Monneau, born in 1994, discovered music at the age of 13, playing electric bass. He trained at the Conservatoire de Cahors until he was 18, learning the basics of classical bow technique and the fundamentals of jazz. From 2013 to 2016, he moved to Toulouse, where he obtained a degree in Jazz Musicology at the Université Jean Jaurès and the Diplôme d'Études Musicales (DEM) in jazz at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional (C.R.R.) in Montauban. From 2017 to 2020, Jim lived in Barcelona, where he worked as a professional musician. He has taken part in several international projects, including ‘Mescladis’ by saxophonist Jean Marc Padovani in France, and his own project, Llum Trio, in Belgium. With the latter, he won the prize for best soloist at the JazzContest Mechelen 2019 competition, as well as 1st prize at the David Ostromooukhov competition in 2022. In 2020, he moved to Brussels to pursue a Master's degree in Jazz Double Bass, which he obtained in 2023.
