Stéphane Orlando

Stéphane Orlando

Performing on international stages, Stéphane Orlando is an award-winning composer and pianist who builds bridges between disciplines, as demonstrated by his three albums:

  1. Seuls, compositions in Black and White
  2. Mystérieuse Mélisande
  3. The String Theory Alpha Project

He favors the dialogue between gesture, text, sound and image, in open forms: poetic film concerts, contemporary operas, transdisciplinary creations.

He has collaborated with artists such as Fred Becker, Daniele Capucci, Veronika Harcsa, Manu Hermia, Neff Irizarry, André Klénès, Stéphane Mercier, Nelja, O'Boy, Benjamin Sauzereau, Bo Van der Werf or Christian Zanesi.

Currently composer-in-residence at the Grand Manège in Namur (CAV&MA), he is developing a series of ambitious vocal and instrumental projects. This follows his residency with the Liège Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (2022–2025), where he explored a vast symphonic spectrum ranging from musical theatre to a bassoon concerto. His work was honored in 2020 with the prestigious SABAM for Culture Prize, and in 2023, he received several international awards for Best Original Score,
notably in San Francisco, Tokyo, and Toronto.

An expert in the relationship between sound and image, he has accompanied silent films at CINEMATEK since 2001, with over 500 live performances to his credit. This mastery of improvisation shapes his pedagogical work: he teaches improvisation at the Haute École de Musique (HEM) in Geneva.
