Gabriele di Franco is an Italian/Belgian award-winning composer, guitarist, and writer based in Brussels, active in the fields of contemporary jazz, orchestral music, and music theatre.

His work stands at the intersection of storytelling, improvisation, and large-ensemble composition. Deeply fascinated by the relationship between narrative and music, he develops projects in which jazz interacts with orchestral colors, folk influences, and contemporary forms.

Over the years, Gabriele has received several international awards and recognitions for his compositions. Among them: 3rd Prize at the “Spheres of a Genius” Composition Competition organized by the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra & JamMusicLab University (2023), 1st Prize at the Scrivere in Jazz International Composition & Arrangement Competition for Jazz Orchestra with Betsabea (2022), multiple distinctions at the Ise-Shima International Popular Music Composition Competition in Japan, and selection as composer for the European Composers project of Subway Jazz Orchestra (2021).

Alongside his work as a composer for jazz ensembles, he also develops projects in the field of participatory music theatre, including LULELA (LOD muziektheater), and collaborates with several artistic organizations in Belgium and abroad.

In 2026, he released The Value Of Choices on Challenge Records, an orchestral project bringing together eighteen musicians and guest artists around themes of storytelling, choice, and meaning in music.

He holds a Master’s degree in Composition and Arrangement from the Royal Conservatory of Brussels (KCB), where he studied with composers including Kris Defoort, Lode Mertens, and Peter Swinnen, and later completed a post-master’s degree in Film Music with Michelino Bisceglia.
