Stéphanie Bertrand Trio

  • Constituted : 19/06/2024

Carried by the double bass of Victor Foulon, the guitar of Bastien Jeunieaux, and the voice and flute of Stéphanie Bertrand, this trio explores a distinctive repertoire blending original compositions with subtly reinvented jazz standards.

The original pieces are usually born from melodies composed by Victor, onto which Stéphanie lays delicate and finely crafted lyrics. The repertoire weaves together instrumental pieces by Duke Ellington such as Isfahan, or Sam Rivers (Beatrice), and Brazilian tunes like Doce de Coco, reimagined with French lyrics. Each reinterpretation becomes a creation in its own right, shaped by a great freedom of form and tone.

Musical complicity lies at the heart of the project. Bastien’s guitar and Victor’s double bass create a soothing sonic landscape, a kind of velvety groove on which Stéphanie’s voice and flute can settle, slip through, and breathe. It’s music of the moment: intimate, sincere, and an invitation to deep listening.
