Friday 10 July is the jazz day of Gent Jazz 2026. Doors open as early as 2:30 PM for a marathon of contemporary jazz masters. OLA TUNJI (African rhythms & jazz) kicks things off, followed by radical multi-instrumentalist Shabaka, whose spiritual and experimental solo work builds on his legendary role in Sons of Kemet and The Comet Is Coming. Drummer-producer Nate Smith delivers a groove-driven blend of jazz, funk, soul and hip-hop, while the legendary Charles Lloyd Quartet offers lyrical, timeless jazz from one of the world's most respected saxophonists. The evening is crowned by Marcus Miller with his spectacular We Want Miles! tribute to the 100th anniversary of Miles Davis, featuring the original members of the 1980s comeback band. On the Garden Stage, Julien Tassin, Etuk Ubong, Josh Johnson and Tomoki Sanders frame the day with intimate jazz moments.
