The Jazz Station Big Band pays tribute to Dr. Maya Angelou — poet, author, and activist whose words continue to resonate with extraordinary strength, dignity, and humanity.
Inspired by her writings and by the enduring power of her voice, the musicians of the band have created an original repertoire of compositions and arrangements that seeks to echo her spirit: sensitive yet powerful, intimate yet universal.
Blending the richness of orchestral jazz with the freedom of improvisation and the depth of poetic expression, this recording captures more than a concert. It bears witness to a vibrant encounter between music, words, and audience — a shared experience that unfolded over two unforgettable evenings."
