“Trinity: Consciousness, Art and Hypostasis”

is a meditation on identity, art, and the human experience,

a deeply personal project; it’s a sonic memoir.

Each composition is a chapter of Andrej Thompson's life, from the chaotic beauty of his time in Canberra to the quiet introspection of lockdown in Slovenia. It’s a whole celebration of the people, places, and sounds that have shaped him.

In it Andrej explores the boundaries of jazz, blending traditional free jazz elements with non-tonal improvisation, investigating the interplay between structure and spontaneity.

Pieces like ‘Rushing Images’ draw from his earlier work in Gherkin Club, while ‘Festival of Kites’ reflects his fascination with Kandinsky’s use of color and abstraction in music.

In ‘Ascending Wattlebirds,’ he tries to translate the sounds of Australian songbirds into music, their calls are like threads weaving through the composition, creating a sense of home and belonging. It’s a piece that feels alive, like a landscape in sound.

At its core, Trinity is about finding meaning in the chaos of life. Whether through the playful energy of ‘Dolmades Club’ or the reflective stillness of ‘Rushing Images,’ this project is an invitation to explore what it means to be human.
