In addition to his conducting career, Frédéric Chaine is a professional jazz violinist. Since 2019, he has been captivating audiences at The Music Village, a well-known jazz club based in Brussels. In 2021 and 2022, Frédéric Chaine was invited to perform with his quartet by the Opéra du Grand Avignon, where he will return in October 2025 to share the stage with the renowned guitarist Sébastien Giniaux. On September 4, he will also take part in the “Citizens’ Garden Concerts” presented by the European Parliament.
Frédéric Chaine has collaborated with jazz artists such as Florin Niculescu, Frédéric Borey, Wajdi Riahi, Vilmos Csikos, Daniel Jonkers, Basile Rahola, and Boris Schmidt.
Conductor and arranger, Frédéric Chaine has invited renowned jazz violinist Florin Niculescu for the premiere of the concert “Tribute to Django Reinhardt and Stéphane Grappelli” at the Brussels Bourse in April 2025. Blending classical and jazz music, the program presented works by the legendary duo, arranged by Frédéric Chaine for string orchestra and jazz quartet.
In September 2020, he released his first jazz album, “De Bruxelles à Lausanne, Ballade Improvisée”, featuring international jazz violin star Florin Niculescu.
Influenced by Stéphane Grappelli and Florin Niculescu, Frédéric Chaine masterfully blends his classical background with jazz improvisation. He studied classical violin at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel in the class of Yuzuko Horigome and has been mentored by Miroslav Roussine, a concertist and student of David Oïstrakh.
