Started playing piano at the age of 4, with the Suzuki Method and went to study classical piano at the Espoo Music Academy, Finland ('80-'92).
Studied at the Oulunkyla Pop & Jazz Conservatory of Helsinki, Finland ('93-'94).
Left Finland in order to study at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels,
Belgium, Departement of Jazz & Commercial Music ('94-'99), Studied with
pianists Diederik WISSELS and Nathalie LORIERS and obtained his Master of Music Degree in September 1999.
His quartet released "Voices of Pohjola" in 2001 and " 02" in 2003.
PRIZES :
- Won with his Quartet the "10th European Jazz Contest"
in Avignon, France, 2001
- Won the 1st prize at the "3rd International Jazz Soloist Competition"
in Monte Carlo, Monaco, in 2001
- Won prize for the best soloist at the "21st International Jazz Contest"
in Hoeilaart, Belgium, in 1999
- Won 1st prize with his Quartet at the "21st International Jazz Contest"
in Hoeilaart, Belgium, in 1999
- Won the Belgian Artistic Promotion Prize (Sabam), for the best
improvisation of a Belgian composition, at the "19th International Jazz
Contest" in Hoeilaart, Belgium, in 1997
- Won prize of the most promising young group at the "19th International
Jazz Contest" in Hoeilaart, Belgium, in 1997
- Won 2nd Prize at the "National Composition Contest for Young Musicians"
in Finland, in 1993
