Júlia Simkovits is a Hungarian-born singer-songwriter and composer based in Brussels. Her music uniquely blends the melodic richness of Hungarian folk with the intimacy of pop and the improvisational freedom of jazz. Through her work, Júlia explores themes of empathy, feminine strength and self-irony creating songs that are both emotionally resonant and thoughtfully crafted.
She studied jazz singing at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels and she also honed her artistry under the guidance of renowned vocalist Gábor Winand in Budapest. In 2021, she relocated to Brussels, immersing herself in the city’s vibrant international music scene.
She founded JUPE, an ensemble that reflects her musical vision. As the band’s vocalist, primary composer, and lyricist, Júlia leads JUPE in creating atmospheric soundscapes that weave together jazz, world music, and art pop, while retaining the poetic sensibility of her Hungarian roots. Known for intimate yet expansive performances, Júlia Simkovits and JUPE bring heartfelt storytelling, improvisational flair, and refined musicality to audiences across Belgium and beyond.
