What began as a shared quest for freedom within jazz has evolved into a close-knit ensemble with a distinctive sound: playful and dynamic – that’s The Green Mean Machine. Their concerts revolve around the concept of the ‘now’: intense interaction, unexpected twists and the joy of four musicians who continually challenge one another and rediscover their musical sound time and again.
You may recognise the four band members from other Belgian jazz acts, but together Werend Van Den Bossche (Dishwasher_, Kin Gajo), Warre Van de Putte (Don Marsh V), Zjef Van Steenbergen (Ellias D’Hooge Trio) and Marcos Della Rocha (Laughing Bastards) deliver a distinctive blend of jazz, improvisation and contemporary influences.
Since the release of their EP The Engine (2023), GMM have been refining a sound that brings together jazz tradition and a modern, free-spirited interpretation. GMM represents a convergence of the band members’ classical training and experience with a drive to constantly push musical boundaries. The result is a sound that feels both compelling and adventurous.
Their first self-titled LP is due for release in the autumn of 2026. Just as in their live performances, spontaneity takes centre stage on this record: a lively dialogue between four musicians who find each other instinctively and constantly explore new directions together.
