Simon Comté is a jazz saxophonist and composer born in Brussels and based in New York, where he studied at the prestigious Manhattan School of Music. Recognized for his exceptional instrumental mastery, virtuosity, and remarkable musical maturity, he is quickly establishing himself as one of the most promising saxophonists of his generation, driven by a distinctive and assertive musical voice.

In 2023, Simon became the youngest recipient in the history of the Belgian American Educational Foundation (BAEF). That same year, he was admitted to the Manhattan School of Music, one of the world's leading jazz programs, and moved to New York. He quickly made a name for himself as one of the most promising young musicians of the new generation, performing regularly in New York clubs and collaborating with artists such as Jaleel Shaw, Ben Street, and Joe Dyson. He has played at venues including Dizzy's Club (Jazz at Lincoln Center), the Harlem Flophouse, and Miller Recital Hall with his quartet, as well as many other renowned venues.

As a leader, Simon is already developing a strong artistic identity. In June 2024, he toured Belgium with his quartet. The repertoire consisted mainly of Simon's own compositions. His music places dialogue and synergy between the musicians at its heart. His music is influenced by his mentors: Coltrane, Monk, Brad Mehldau, and Kenny Wheeler.

Always searching for the most genuine energy and the best way to tell a story through music, Simon Compté is already standing out and is among the most dazzling rising stars of the new Belgian jazz scene.
