The “Bart Defoort & Victor Da Costa Quartet” has been in existence since 2005 – that’s 20 years now!
Bart and Victor share a keen interest and deep passion for the music developed by the many great jazz musicians and composers of the 1930s to 1960s. These artists created the universal and timeless language of jazz within the tonal and modal traditions, alongside an enormously rich and timeless repertoire.
For the quartet, this great inspiration and tradition serves as a springboard to their own compositions, their creative improvisations and their musical dialogues.
The repertoire therefore consists of a mix of original compositions, alongside music written by jazz legends and ‘standards’ from the ‘American Songbook’.
Here, infectious and swinging pieces are interspersed with moving ballads.
The creative and enthusiastic musical interaction between these four experienced musicians is a delight to experience.
