Jazz&More: Guillaume ORTI (solo)

Jazz&More: Guillaume ORTI (solo)

Guillaume Orti explores composition and improvisation as well as the relationship between music and dance, or text and music. Active since the 1990s, he co-founded collectives focused on collective creativity and has performed with groups such as the Andy Emler MegaOctet, Mââk 5tet and MikMâäk, Aka Moon, Octurn and the Hasse Poulsen Progressive Patriots, among others. For this solo performance, Guillaume converses through his various ‘anchored’ instruments, navigating between moments of complete spontaneity and improvised compositional play. Alto, baritone, soprano, C-melody, mezzo-soprano and C-soprano come to life to speak to you of voids as much as fullness, of hollows and horizons, of the vertical as much as of time. Each instrument is a character who loves to recount how the triangle of curiosity, wonder and enthusiasm reveals the possibilities of its sonic spectrum. This astonishing and prolific French saxophonist hasn’t performed in our part of the world for around ten years, so don’t miss his appearance at the Pelzer Jazz Club!
