Jeroen Van Herzeele et Stéphane Galland

In this duo, Jeroen Van Herzeele (Ben Sluijs, Mâäk’s Spirit, Toots Thielemans, Chris Joris, Philip Catherine) and Stéphane Galland (Aka Moon, Ibrahim Maalouf, Tigran Hamasyan, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Malcolm Braff) open a new chapter in their musical experimentation and improvisation.

Throughout their busy musical careers, Jeroen and Stéphane have often crossed paths. One of their joint projects, Greetings from Mercury, was a fusion band combining jazz, acid jazz, rock and rap. With their new duo, they continue to combine different genres and soundscapes.

With varied configurations and combinations of saxophone, modular synthesizers, EWI, drums and electronics, Jeroen and Stéphane experience live music in an interactive setting, using multiple wind instruments, overdubs, percussion and electronics, engaging in exciting dialogues on themes and metrics. The result is both intoxicating and catchy, music that can be analysed as well as danced to.

The duo has already given several concerts, notably at the Sounds Jazz Club in Brussels and the Gent Jazz Festival. In 2025, they will be seen at festivals such as Jazz à Liège and Jazz Middelheim in Antwerp.

Their first album is entitled Songshan, named after one of the five sacred mountains in China, considered to be the centre of heaven and earth. The album was released on 6 June 2025 by the Dutch label Challenge Records.
