Theme combo Horace Silver - Leuven Jazz

Theme combo Horace Silver - Leuven Jazz

As every year, Leuven Jazz presents a series of theme combos by the jazz department of the LUCA School of Arts. Together with their teachers, the students develop a repertoire based on a specific theme or notable figure from the history of jazz.

Together with his students, trombone teacher Dree Peremans is focusing on the American jazz pianist and composer Horace Silver (1928–2014). Silver initially played the saxophone, but later switched to the piano. He was renowned for his funky, humorous style, as well as his pioneering contribution to hard bop.

with Pau Montoya (alto saxophone), Jasper Oosthuyse (saxophone), Jeff Geukens (piano), Roman D'hondt (guitar), Dirk Duerinck (bass), Johnny Ping (drums) and Zep Heylen (piano)
