ALEX KOO TRIO

ALEX KOO TRIO

Pianist and composer Alex Koo is hailed by the renowned American Downbeat Jazz Magazine as "stunningly original" and is known for his genre-bending music. Seemingly effortlessly, he blends jazz with contemporary classical music, elements of film music, and even indie.

Koo began his musical career as a classical prodigy at the age of five, and in his teens, he developed a passion for jazz and improvisation. He quickly garnered praise from jazz legends like Kenny Werner and Brad Mehldau. "Of the same rare, high caliber as Keith Jarrett," writes Trouw.

In 2025, "Blame It on My Chromosomes" was released on W.E.R.F. Records, featuring ten unique and personal tracks. Featuring Dré Pallemaerts on drums and Lennart Heyndels on bass, the trio is synonymous with daring ensemble playing and musical fireworks. Considered by many to be the best in Belgian jazz. For this album, Koo collaborated with internationally acclaimed trumpeter Ambrose Akinmusire, who plays on two tracks. It's already a truly magnificent album!
