Cordes et textes funambules

‘The ’Cordes funambules" duo was born out of an impromptu meeting on stage between guitarist-composer Véronique Gillet and cellist Raphaël Feye. It was the beginning of a fruitful collaboration based around Véronique Gillet's music, and a first series of concerts in spring 2024.

Véronique's compositions blend the Hispanic influences so characteristic of guitar music with classical and Balkan music. These pieces, with their colourful harmonies and the borderline between chamber music and world music, give pride of place to the cello's singing and to a dance that twirls from one string to the next.

Here and there, a cello piece by Raphaël or a piece by J.C. Bach punctuates the piece, adding a breath of fresh air.

Quotations and aphorisms by the philosopher Emil Cioran, played by the actor Thierry Devillers, accompany these tightrope walkers".
