Teun Verbruggen's boundary-pushing project

Blind io is the new musical adventure of Belgian drummer and composer Teun Verbruggen. For this project, he has chosen an unusual lineup of musicians from diverse backgrounds who personally inspire him and challenge him to explore new musical boundaries. The trio consists of pianist Bram De Looze, saxophonist Ingrid Laubrock, and electronic artist Ikue Mori. De Looze, known for his work with Eric McPherson and Stéphane Galland, is a virtuoso who constantly adds surprising twists to his music and has a deep understanding of the structure of music. Laubrock, originally from Germany and now based in Brooklyn, is known for her exploration of layered, suggestive soundscapes and has collaborated with greats such as Anthony Braxton and Dave Douglas. Japanese electronic artist Ikue Mori, renowned for her innovative work, has collaborated with icons like John Zorn and Marc Ribot, bringing a wide spectrum of sounds to the project. Blind io promises to be an intriguing musical journey where improvisation, composition, and electronic experiments come together. The project's debut album will be released in early 2025 via Rat Records.
