Bodies

Bodies is an electro-acoustic jazz quartet that experiments with the sonic textures of saxophone and synthesizers, fusing rhythms from different styles with improvisation to create an ambiguous soundscape. After two consecutive years of participation in the Brussels Jazz Weekend, the presentation of their first EP in the famous Jazz Station (Brussels) in March 2023, and performances in most of the city's venues, the band's leader is looking to go beyond Belgian borders with her music.

The group uniquely integrates various influences from contemporary international jazz: live electronic music from Brussels (ECHT!, Commander Spoon), the rhythms and stylistic diversity of London (Nubya Garcia), the tradition, harmonies and free improvisation of the United States, and the minimalism of Northern Europe (Bendik Giske).

Through their music, this group asserts the importance of pleasure and enjoyment. The acoustic space created during their live performances leads the collective imagination towards a utopian world where vulnerability is the key to advancement, where physicality loses its importance.

Born in January 2022 around the musical universe of Belgian-Spanish saxophonist and composer Alejandra Borzyk, Bodies brings together exceptional musicians from Brussels' international jazz scene: Chae Yeon Lee (KR) on keyboards and effects, Mateusz Malcharek (PL) on electric bass and Elie Gouleme on drums. Since their first concert in April 2022, the group has made voracious progress on the contemporary Brussels scene, becoming a leading light in the city's music scene.
