Marni Jazz Festival: Nicolas Thys Trio + Hermon Mehari

Nicolas Thys on the double bass and Jeroen Van Herzeele on the saxophone have played together for years, offering a repertoire featuring standards and compositions by Nicolas Thys himself. Now, the trio is being joined by a fourth member in the form of a guest musician for the festival this autumn : the American-Eritrean trumpeter Hermon Mehari. Le Monde has called him “exceptionally talented on the trumpet” and Jazz Magazine says that “he demonstrates indisputable talent, which suggests he has a promising future ahead of him”. With these four top-class artists, the evening is set to be full of promise, surprises, skill and adventure.

– From one festival to another : you may remember that in January 2017 Nicolas Thys was the leader of the River Jazz Night with The Sound People Project : three projects that produced music both rooted to the ground and reaching for the skies.
