On 3 July at 6 pm, time will stand still in the heart of Thier-à-Liège. In a spirit of warmth and camaraderie, two institutions of our cultural life, the Pelzer and the MOM, are joining forces! From this fleeting union comes ‘Jazz au Thier’, a micro-festival nestled in the lush setting of a secret garden…

In the style of Le Petit Poucet (a well-known local festival), we’ve scattered musical notes along the paths to guide you to our gardens. It’s a neighbourhood celebration on a human scale – local and family-friendly – where a laid-back vibe blends with the joy of being together. To mark the end of their respective seasons, Le Pelzer and Le MOM are stepping aside to make way for the simple pleasures of life.

Under the last rays of a generous sun, amidst the blooming flowers (under Michel’s watchful eye), the air will dance to the sound of jazz. Between conversations, you can indulge in the delights of our Food Trucs, little gourmet stops that will punctuate this evening that’s so, so… blue. Everything here calls for light-heartedness, sharing and the pure joy of being together.

On the programme: Matthieu Najean’s quartet (tenor sax) featuring Wouter Van den Broeck (piano), Victor Foulon (bass) and Matthias De Waele (drums). A decidedly ‘cool’, melodic style of jazz, deeply rooted in the traditions of swing and West Coast jazz.

Next up, “The Band Next Door” will be performing at Mom, right next door! This group is the close-knit and historic reunion of five key figures of Liège jazz who, having grown up together and spent more than a few nights at the Pelzer (and that’s an understatement!), feel right at home on the MOM stage to celebrate an unwavering musical friendship for the first edition of Jazz au Thier. Featuring Greg Houben (trumpet), Quentin Liégeois (guitar), Pascal Mohy (piano), Sam Gerstmans (bass) and Mimi Verderamme (drums).

Night will eventually fall over the garden, but the story may not end there. When souls are in harmony, time loses its hold. And who knows, with the evening’s intoxication helping, the urge to play may prove stronger than fatigue…
