Cold winds are blowing in from the north, bringing you their second single, ‘Vihma’.
We’ve been playing this track for many years. Anu wrote it shortly after moving to Belgium from Finland, about 25 years ago. It’s a real pleasure to play it…
“Vihma” is an original song by Värttinä, the world-renowned Finnish folk band. It is one of two covers on our debut album, “White Paper”. We are delighted to have finally recorded our own version of this extraordinary song. And we hope you’ll enjoy it!
Vihma literally means ‘sleet’, that is, wet snow. Imagine yourself walking through a Nordic winter landscape, trying to make your way home to a warm log fire waiting for you. But the snow sticks to your feet, the wind is blowing harder and harder, the temperature is dropping… Will you make it home? Bon voyage.
VIHMA is the second single from the album WHITE PAPER, which is released on 14 April on Tuur’s label, Aventura Musica.
“With ‘White Paper’, Tuur Florizoone and Anu Junnonen present a highly anticipated debut album and showcase their greatest asset: solid roots. Twenty-five years of friendship and unpretentious musical collaboration have given rise to a sincere and daring story, told through twelve songs brimming with sensitivity. ‘White Paper’ exudes intimacy, vulnerability and a strong bond, offering a glimpse of the two musicians’ influences: jazz, world music, pop and contemporary chamber music.”
Tuur Florizoone – accordion, piano
Anu Junnonen – vocals
Support act: Julien De Borman
Julien De Borman has been performing on stage for over 25 years. A passionate, unconventional accordionist and traveller, he cultivates a unique musical world where poetry and intensity blend with every movement of the bellows, in a warm and inviting spirit.
Alongside his collaborative projects (Munsch, Flygmaskin, Turdus Philomelos, etc.), he showcases the full richness of his instrument and his imagination, ranging from soaring flights of fancy to moments of suspended time, performing solo on stage.
A curious composer and performer, he creates music that is vibrant, free and deeply soulful.
