Matteo Di Leonardo

Matteo Di Leonardo became a revelation of contemporary jazz guitar of 2017. Born in Italy, his musical formation comes from the Conservatory "Luisa d'Annunzio".
After having successfully performed in Italy with several trios and quartets, Di Leonardo moved to Brussels in 2016, to complete his Jazz guitar studies at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels.

He quickly started performing with the most reputable Belgian jazz formations while composing all the songs for his debut album ib Belgium, "Sketches". Pure contemporary jazz music, fresh and swingy rhythms hand in hand with his friend Philip Catherine (Guitar) who brings an even more eclectic sound to the Di Leonardo compositions.
Matteo is surrounded by some of the highlights musicians of the European jazz scene in Brussels like Claudio Filippini (Piano), Filippo Bianchini (Sax), Dario Piccioni (Double bass) and Armando Luongo (Drums), some of the best Italian jazz players in the Brussels sphere, wrapping up the debut of Matteo Di Leonardo.

He performed in February 2019 with the Belgian National Orchestra in the renowned Bozar, he leads the sextet "Songs between two lands" in Brussels and the "KABISA jazz collective" in Nairobi, where he has developed collaborations with renowned Kenyan jazz musicians. His projects allowed him to play in Belgium, Italy, The Netherlands, Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, Kenya, China and to participate to Umbria jazz festival 2017, Jazz à Liège 2019, Dinant Jazz festival 2019.
