His music blends intricate compositions, free improvisation, and deep emotional resonance, drawing from a wide range of cultural influences. His discography includes Crop Circles (2014), his first album of original sextet compositions, Sketches (2018), a quintet project featuring Philip Catherine, as well as Kabisa (2019) and Wazito 4 (2023), both recorded in Nairobi in collaboration with African musicians Mackinlay Mutsembi and Juma Tutu.
He leads Echo Woods, an eclectic sextet combining guitar, double bass, and drums with bassoon, bass clarinet, and sheng. Their debut album was released in 2025 and offers music at the crossroads of contemporary jazz and free improvisation.
Matteo has performed in numerous countries (Belgium, Italy, France, the Netherlands, Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, Kenya, China) and at prestigious festivals such as Umbria Jazz (2017), Mithra Jazz in Liège (2019), Dinant Jazz Festival (2019, Young Talent Award), and Tournai Jazz Festival (2025). His compositions were also awarded at the Zilina International Jazz Contest (Slovakia, 2017).
Alongside his artistic career, he teaches jazz guitar at the conservatories of Tourcoing and Tournai, and leads international masterclasses.
